Here is my final project from the College of the Redwoods Fine Woodworking program. This piece took inspiration from Emile-Jacque Ruhlmann and Jane Austen's Pride & Prejudice. The sculpted top is veneered in Macassar Ebony, the grain flows over the top and around the edges. The cabinets are Doussie on the exterior and maple from Pennsylvania on the interior. The mirror frames are solid Doussie. Hinges and door pulls are sterling silver. This was my first foray into the world of veneering, as I worked on this piece it became more apparent the importance of refining the design through drafting and the mock up.
Thank you David Welter from the College of the Redwoods for the photography.
